Established in 2016, Polis brings together a cohort of Deakin University staff and students who seek to understand and interpret some of the greatest political challenges facing the world tomorrow.
Our research focuses on significant policy debates, security challenges and humanitarian disasters towards advancing democracy, peace and development.
We partner with stakeholders in government, international agencies, NGOs, civil society and local communities. We work to develop and deliver outputs that advance knowledge in our field and have meaningful impact in contemporary society.
To do so, we draw on our established expertise in the disciplines of Political Science, International Relations, Defence and Security Studies, International and Community Development, and Humanitarian Crises and Disaster Management.
Polis also runs a vibrant and engaging set of events and activities throughout the year that includes conferences, workshops, seminars and expert panels on current events in global politics.
